HOW TO GET RID OF HEAD LICE or KUTO? | LICEALIZ HEAD LICE TREATMENT SHAMPOO'S KILUSANG KONTRA KUTO

A very common problem among children is lice infestation (pagkakaroon ng kuto) or pediculosis. When I was a child, I also had head lice and it was such an itchy experience! Aside from itch, this also affects children (and even adults) because they will lose their concentration in school due to the discomfort. The scalp may be irritated from constant scratching, and the child may also get bullied or become left out by friends who are afraid to become lice infested as well.

Today, I attended the Lamoiyan Corporation’s Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo as they roll out KILUSANG KONTRA KUTO year 4.

It was such an eye-opening campaign for me as I remembered my experience since my Mama didn’t use Licealiz on me when I was a kid. She had to painfully tug each hair strand to take off nits, or spend hours and hours manually searching for lice from my scalp. I used to cry and complain because it hurt and I was too impatient to wait for Mama to finish. It would take so long and it wasn’t even an assurance that I would be lice-free!

But because of Licealiz’ KILUSANG KONTRA KUTO campaign, I witnessed how comfortable it is for children now to get rid of head lice, since all they have to do is (1) shampoo the hair, (2) wait for 10 minutes, (3) rinse, and (4) comb off the dead lice using a “suyod” or a fine-toothed comb.

STEP 1: Shampoo the hair using Licealiz
In partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), Lamoiyan Corporation will visit 30 schools nationwide and targets to shampoo around 6,000 head lice infested students. Sample sachets will also be distributed within surrounding communities through this activity.

STEP 2: Wait for 10 minutes. The children are provided coloring books to keep them entertained.

I also learned more about pediculosis from the short lecture that was conducted. I learned that an adult head lice can produce 100 eggs every 7 days. Meaning, in a month, one adult louse can leave 400 eggs in a child’s head. The eggs produced earlier will eventually become adult lice too and can produce up to 100 eggs every 7 days. Imagine that! Some myths I also used to believe in were explained.
  • Having long hair doesn’t necessarily mean higher chances of head lice infestation. It only means more places for eggs/nits to cling on.
  • Having short hair doesn’t necessarily mean lower chances of head lice infestation. As long you have a scalp, you could have head lice.
  • Adults may be infested with head lice too especially those with children with head lice thru sharing a pillow, comb and other forms of direct contact.
  • It is not caused by poor hygiene
  • It is not caused by exposure to sunlight
  • It is not caused by low immune system
  • It is also present among students in private schools.
  • Lice may survive (up to 3 days) even when not in the head anymore.
  • Lice cannot jump or fly from one head to another. It can only be acquired through direct contact.
  • The most effective solution is not the sole use of “suyod” or fine-toothed comb. It can only remove a few. It cannot remove nits/eggs.
  • It is better to use a treatment shampoo regularly to save time & energy and to make sure there is no recurrence, than to manually search and remove them.

Licealiz is just like a regular shampoo and conditioner that helps gets rid of head lice because of the ingredient PYRETHRIN, which is a natural extract derived from the flower crysanthemum. This assures us, as moms, that Licealiz is definitely not harmful and is extremely beneficial for our children. It also has two variants: (1) regular, and (2) soothing coolness, which you can choose from. All you have to do is use the shampoo twice a week for 2 weeks, and then once a week for another 2 weeks. It only takes 6 Licealiz usage in a month to help your child with head lice.

STEP 3: Rinse off the shampoo.

Lamoiyan Corporation’s Licealiz Head Lice Treatment Shampoo initiated in 2016 the Kilusang Kontra Kuto, a coalition that has been battling head lice infestation nationwide for a kuto-free Philippines.

STEP 4: Remove the dead lice using a suyod or a fine-toothed comb.

Now on its fourth year, Lamoiyan has partnered again with industry leaders such as DepEd, Drugstores Association of the Philippines (DSAP), and Mommy Bloggers Philippines to further spread the correct information about pediculosis and widely reach the grass roots.

Lamoiyan Corporation is inviting everyone to join their fight against head lice and be part of the KILUSANG KONTRA KUTO year 4. To know kore about the activities of Kilusang Kontra Kuto, visit www.facebook.com/licealiz.
